This hike started out so cold! Then the sun slowly made an appearance and everything started to sparkle. Frosted evergreens might be some of the coolest weather phenomenons I have seen in a while. We started at the top of Windy Saddle and worked our way down. I would consider this a true winter hike. The views were spectacular. The sun hitting the plains while I was under clouds was pure magic.
The popular way to hike through this park is all the way through up Chimney Gulch. We didn’t go that route. As I mentioned earlier, we started at the top. So the first thing we saw was summit view and I’m not complaining. That view would be very rewarding after a long arduous incline.
Overall, it was a beautiful hike on a weird weather day. And weird weather days are my favorite.
