I don’t think I have ever been on a flatter trail. This trail would be amazing to trail run if you are trying to avoid incline. There are several different loops within Lair O’ the Bear. I just stayed on Bear Creek the entire time. Not getting lost is pretty high up on my priority list.
Bear Creek Trail runs adjacent to some private property. The owners of this property decided to build a pretty amazing castle that you can see from the trail. The bridge to said castle is pictured above.
The trail runs along the creek the entire length (1.6 miles). You can carry on from there to Corwina Park. I did end up using my microspikes on this trail. About 60% of the trail was covered in snow/ice. I have read from other sources that this trail is a heavily used mountain biking trail. I only ran into a couple of other hikers on a cold winter day. I can’t imagine what it would be like on a weekend in the summer. I’m beginning to notice the perks of winter hiking.
Stay warm friends!
