I read a lot of books. I try to read one a week. It does not always happen, but I try.
The last book I read was BIG MAGIC by Elizabeth Gilbert. It is primarily about creativity and what a creative lifestyle entails. Gilbert has a philosophy that creativity and ideas float around the universe trying to find someone to make them come to life. This my friends, is the 'big magic'.
Example: Have you ever seen something in the store or on TV and thought to yourself, "Hey, I had that idea five years ago?" That 'idea' came to you. It knocked on your door. Since you did not give it the energy or time it deserved, it went back out into the universe. It continues to knock on people's doors until someone decides to nurture it and bring it to life.
If creativity is magic, then I want to be the best darn magician this world has ever seen.
BIG MAGIC is not the only inspirational//self-help//preach it sister book I have read recently. If anyone is interested, I could definitely give you a strong, detailed book list. Each book is different, but mainly give the same message. And oh what a cliche message it is. Are you ready for it?
Find your passion & follow it.
Ok, thanks for that.
So many people struggle with that. I struggle with that. Am I passionate about what I do? Some days, yea sure. Other days, hell no. Well, the BIG MAGIC gives the good ol' middle finger to passion. Instead, Gilbert preaches to be curious. Whatever you do, stay curious.
Now, that is something I can do.
