This cold weather has given me some motivation. I set out to start decorating for Fall. I found an amazing centerpiece idea from ohhappyday.com. Their’s is obviously cuter, but I think mine turned out pretty nice. I also didn’t want to put the painted pumpkins directly on the table. There are a couple reasons for this. One, I didn’t want the paint to rub off on our table. Two, I wanted to be able to move the entire piece instead of taking off each individual pumpkin.
I went thrifting with a mission to find something to hold all of these pumpkins. I was about to settle with a mirror when I saw this awful movie-inspired wall hanging. I turned it over, painted the inside and sides and viola - a perfect sized wooden box. For only $4.99 I have this re-usable centerpiece box. I’m already brainstorming ideas for a Nightmare Before Christmas theme for the holidays. Ugh, can you imagine? I can. I’m pretty excited.
I really don’t know how long these little painted pumpkins will last. Fingers crossed they will make it to Halloween. If not, that’s ok. I can fill it with something else.
That reminds me of why I chose this centerpiece design in this first place. It will die! I hate storing holiday decorations. I also don’t appreciate the consumerism aspect either. I always try to decorate with real objects or objects that can be used for several occasions.
